The Episcopal House of Prayer

Collegeville, MN
Story by John W Cuningham J

The Episcopal House of Prayer was built in 1989 by the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota led by the Bishop of Minnesota in collaboration with the Abbot of the Monastery at St John’s. The House of Prayer is literally a 16 bed house where people come for retreats and meditations either alone or in groups. It is currently led by the Spiritual Director, Christine Munger. People stay there for hours or days depending on the event. Stays may be solitary or in groups. I have, as the architect received letters with the following quote “Dear Mr. CUNINGHAM, “you do not know me I have just spent time at the House of Prayer and I feel at peace, refreshed and renewed. Thank you for creating such a space.”
