The greatest restaurant in Twin Cities’ history was Charlie’s Café Exceptionale.
Charlie’s was a nationally known downtown Minneapolis landmark at 701 Fourth Ave. So. From 1933 to 1982, everyone remembers their famous potato salad. My favorite memory of Charlie’s Café Exceptionale occurred in July 1975. My dad, my brother and I were having lunch and we started talking politics and what a great politician Hubert Humphrey was. At that very moment, Hubert Humphrey walked right past our table.
